The launch of NAvakara’s Environmental Hub in November 2019 set the stage for a dynamic space dedicated to exchanging greener ideas and fostering sustainable living. At its core was the Waste Less Store, a platform encouraging producers to minimize (plastic) packaging while offering consumers eco-friendly options to support mindful consumption. The Community Room further enriched the Hub, hosting classes and workshops on creating less toxic home products and embracing sustainable practices.
Coffee Jitu, located within the Hub, introduced a groundbreaking concept of eliminating single-use (plastic) cups entirely. In collaboration with RefillMyBottle, it also offered a water refill station at minimal cost, underscoring NAvakara’s commitment to reducing plastic waste.
As the Covid-19 pandemic reshaped 2020, NAvakara quickly adapted to the new challenges. Partnering with a bicycle messenger start-up, the team ensured sustainable delivery of online orders, reducing unnecessary physical contact. Additionally, NAvakara launched an upcycling initiative, producing reusable masks and pouches in collaboration with women whose families were financially affected by the pandemic. This effort not only addressed public health needs but also provided much-needed income, reinforcing NAvakara’s dedication to community resilience and support.
