November 2018 NAvakara’s co-founder, Maureen Simatupang, was invited to speak at Vegan Squad’s Vegan Veganza event. Her talk, “Ways to Zero Waste,” focused on practical strategies for reducing waste and embracing lower-impact living.

November 2018 NAvakara hosted Bea Johnson, founder of ZeroWasteHome.com and a pioneer of the global zero waste lifestyle movement. Speaking to an audience of over 200, Bea shared her journey and practical tips for waste-free living. During her time in Jakarta, she also explored local traditional markets, gaining insights into sustainable practices within the community.

March 2019 NAvakara launched its inaugural Waste Less Films Weekend, featuring film screenings and discussions centered around practical steps to adopt a zero-waste lifestyle. In collaboration with three venues across Jakarta, the event engaged a wide audience in sustainable living practices. June 2019  NAvakara hosted its very first Waste Less Market, featuring 16 environmentally friendly vendors. Part of the Soft Opening of NAvakara’s Environmental Hub, the event offered sustainable shopping options while encouraging eco-conscious lifestyles.

October 2019 NAvakara participated in the Working Meeting for Government and Stakeholders focused on restricting single-use plastics at the culinary service provider level. Co-founder Maureen Simatupang delivered a talk on the different types of plastics and their environmental impact.

2019 was a bustling year for NAvakara, filled with dynamic activities at its Environmental Hub and outreach programs across diverse venues. August 2019  NAvakara organized the Waste Less Market, bringing together a diverse selection of environmentally friendly vendors to offer sustainable shopping options for conscious consumers.

September 2019 NAvakara partnered with Sadar to showcase vintage finds and sustainable solutions for conscious consumers. The weekend event featured the sale of 47 vintage clothing items through Pasar Vintage and Rainforest Pavilion, with 100% of proceeds supporting the YouthACT Firefighter Squad in Kalimantan. Additional funds were donated to the Peduli Anak Timur Foundation, extending

September 2019 NAvakara hosted an event in collaboration with the Jakarta Animal Aid Network to share resources on adopting and sponsoring rescued dogs. The event also featured a Farmers Market, offering unpackaged fruits and vegetables for a plastic-free shopping experience!

October 2019  NAvakara joined the Cecemuwe Neighborhood Eco Bazaar, featuring a table of eco-friendly products and presenting “Do You Know Your Plastics?” This session offered practical tips on separating and upcycling household waste for a healthier lifestyle.
